How to make your 3D bases spotless!

Hi everyone!

Today we’ll be speaking about the issues of seeing some small bubbles in the 3D Bases.
The appearance of small bubbles is something difficult to prevent altogether during production, due to the nature of the material, and it not being cast in a vacuum.
However, there is an easy way to fix those small bubbles, for the backers worried about such issues.

For this article, we took one of the bases which was rejected after production, since it had too many mistakes.
As you can see on the image, indeed, we would never have sent such a base to you.

But since we like “mission impossibles” we will work on this one, to show that even here, a lot can be done,

The procedure is very very simple. You will need an elastic sealant. We did use here a white elastic sealant from Saratoga, but any brand or similar sealants, of course, will do the job.
What is important is take a sealant that can be paintable as to allow, of course, painting once the job is done.

To avoid getting my index dirty I am using a latex glove.
Once my finger is protected, I am taking some small quantities of sealant and with the index I put it on the imperfection/bubble, covering it fully.
To “repair” this base, all it took was 20 minutes of work.

Once this is done, you need to let the sealant dry up (in this case, 45 minutes), and you’re ready to give the base its first primer.
To do this, we used an acrylic black spray can (which is perfect for the sealant).

Here I show you the difference “before/after”, by putting only the spray on half the base.
As you can see, the result is excellent.

Once the spray is put, I assure you won’t notice any difference between this base, which was supposed to be thrown away, from one perfectly cast.

Of course, you won’t have to deal with such a damaged base, but maybe with some token few small bubbles. So it will be way quicker to reach the same great result.
The spray has also a great advantage, having done the job of a primer. You just now need to paint, and it’s done!

In the next article, you will see how to paint and finish this base.

We can say with pride to have saved a 3D Base from waste, giving it new life. Who want to adopt this little 3D Base ? 🙂

Until next, Lorenzo & David

Hi to everyone!

It’s been a while since last update. We have been working a lot on the 3D Bases project, but also have news about Forgotten Halls, so here we are.

Let’s start with some announcement that will make you rejoice.
We are giving you a glimpse of the 2 boxes that will be revealed on our next KS.

Starter Pack – Beyond the Door
Expansion Pack – Eerie Silence

Graphic design by: Fabio “Jacknife” Paulotto

Yes, you will have both available, right from the start. Isn’t it great ?

In our Base Set “Beyond the Door” you will be able to create corridors and rooms with our fully modular and Dynamic Walls, which can be used to build both indoor settings and outdoor buildings (while keeping full playability on the inside).

And of course, thanks to our Dynamic Floors, you will be able to build from the start of the Kickstarter huge dungeons with sewers and canals.

With the Expansion Set “Eerie Silence” you will move further, on the upper floors.
You will find inside this box new Dynamic Walls, and new Double Face floors, Stairs, and balustrades to create parapets or bridges, all the while keeping the same indoor/outdoor potentialities and playability.

With the two boxes togethers, you will be able to let your imagination run wild: underground places, corridors, rooms, upper and lower floors, platforms and bridges, towers, fortified walls, ancient mansions and castles.
Amazing, and this is just the beginning.

RGFX Kickstarter “Persistent Fog Machine”

Hi everyone!

Our friends at RGFX are revealing more and more of their awesome Persistent Fog Machine, and our collaboration together!
For those reading attentively, MHW and RGFX have been indeed collaborating during the past half-year on this project.
The result was the Dark Crypt, a beautiful building made by MWH which let RGFX’s Fog Machine fit perfectly inside, allowing the fog to roll out from all sides, submerging a whole gaming terrain with ease!

For a more breathtaking look at how the Dark Crypt generates fog, take a look at RGFX’s Teaser video, made on the Dwarven Forge Caverns for more awesomeness.

RGFX has plans to launch their Kickstarter in May 2017, where you will be able to buy their Persistent Fog Machine, with the Dark Crypt…

and their Black Box.

Update 13 – F.H. – Hard Plastic – Back to the… Dynamic Floors & Sewers

Hi everyone!

After several articles about the walls of Forgotten Halls, which allows to build and create an infinity of amazing buildings, we are back to one of the most interesting feature of our project: our Dynamic Floors.

Our Dynamic Floors can be modified and customized in many different ways, by adding and taking out some Floor Inserts.

In Forgotten Halls, our Dynamic Floors have a cross-section, with 3 different Modular inserts, which can be added/taken out, and moved to create different results.

This is just one of the multiple solution reachable with Forgotten Halls.

But let’s go back to the Dungeon.
This dungeon has a lot of modularity. Since our walls are not pinned to the floors, you can put them wherever you want, creating even very narrow corridors, or rooms of various sizes.
The length of the corridors and the size of the rooms is up to you!
All of the modularity doesn’t take away anything of the aesthetics, allowing you to immerge yourself and your miniatures in a beautiful gaming experience.

RGFX collaboration: The Dark Crypt (Fog Tower)

Hi everyone,

The collaboration between RGFX and Manorhouse Workshop created its first wonder!
An architectural building made by MHW, with the scope of hiding the Fog Machine created by RGFX.
This Fog Machine will allow gaming terrains and dioramas to get an amazing Fog effect to bring the atmosphere to a whole new different level, as you can see on our videos and pictures!

The Dark Crypt can be used on its own, or be combined with other existing buildings of various manufacturers.
Here, we created a gaming terrain made of 4 Stone Slabs (3D Bases) for the base, on which we added walls of Forgotten Halls for completing the structure, creating a perfect result for the Dark Crypt hosting the Fog Machine.
Of course, while we did use our MHW buildings for such a terrain, nothing prevents your own terrains from other manufacturers.

The atmosphere thus generated with RGFX’s Fog Machine is eerie and ghostly.
Can you imagine a whole gaming session clouded in fog and darkness ?
We can.

Update 12 – F.H. – Hard Plastic – You can use Forgotten Halls on any existing terrain!

Hi everyone!

In our previous article we showed you how you can use Forgotten Halls to create rooms, corridors, towers, etc, without using our Dynamic Floors of 100x100x10mm. It was however with a “3D Bases” Stone Slabs floor, which creates a perfect floor for our building, and thus, you didn’t need to use any of our FH floors, for obvious reasons.
However, we are showing you now how you can use any kind of terrain already in your possession and still use perfectly our FH range.

Let’s use indeed a terrain base, like our “Rough Terrain – 3D Bases”. This terrain represents a mix of earth, little stones, etc classical to outdoors terrains.
With this terrain, you can’t use add apparently our FH walls to create a building, since you would be missing the stone floor and it wouldn’t look as good as it should.
However, there is a very easy solution “built-in FH”, which we are showing you now. 🙂

This step by step images show you how to create a perfect stone floor for the FH building, while keeping the overall result perfect.
The floors we are using are already existing in FH, and fit perfectly our structures.
We are also adding our covers under our walls, this time, to make the floors underneath fit perfectly. The same covers are added on the top of the walls to build up more floors, here, about the tower.

The overall result, as you can see, is great!
We have a full tower with its ground floor fully integrated with the Rough Terrain used as base.
We could continue, with the same floors, to build more floors of the same tower, or build another structure nearby. It’s just one of the multiple, and endless, potentialities of our FH modular system.

Update 11 – Forgotten Halls – Hard Plastic – Fortified Terrace

Hi to everyone!
Let’s continue with more accessories to widen even more the potentialities of our Forgotten Halls project.

To see all the videos dedicated to our Forgotten Halls project, and being kept updated about them, go and subscribe to our YouTube channel

Let’s start from the terrace that we did present during last article.
We did add 2 towers to this structure, connected between them with a small overhead bridge.
You can see how the stairs give a great dynamism to the whole, while the towers give a robust show of strength to the whole structure.

Braziers by Zealot Miniatures

On this other building, we modified everything making it a real sturdy fortress.
The 2 towers are still there but we took out the stairs bringing up to the terrace, and made the walls of the main building much more sturdier thanks to our “Dynamic External Walls”.
And this is just a single floor building. Imagine what you could create with a taller structure, with more floors … a unique and huge fortress.

Let’s speak about our “Dynamic External Walls”.
This simple yet elegant MHW idea allows to create endless potentialities for your building creations, without needing to invest a lot of money to buy hundreds of different walls, which then take also a lot of place when you need to stock them around.
With our solution, with just the Walls of our Base Set, you can add any kind of our Dynamic External Walls to create a various number of different walls of your liking.

We’re just scratching the surface here of the possibilities, since you can combine the main Dynamic Walls (inside the walls) with the External ones to create wonderful results, giving depth and details, in different ways, to your structure.

Of course, our external dynamic walls are available on both format (60x56x4mm. and 100x56x4mm.).

This is just the beginning.
